The Greatest Mystery That Surrounds the Pyramids of Egypt

Egypt is a land of mystery and the greatest mystery of all surrounds the pyramids of Egypt. Pyramids are everywhere in Egypt. But the pyramids that capture the most attention are the pyramids that are located in Giza. They are the last remaining of the original Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.

From the work of Egyptologist Mark Lehner, we know that ordinary every people who lived in Ancient Egypt built the pyramids.  But who designed them, how were they built, when were they built and the biggest mystery of all – what was their purpose.   Why were the pyramids of Egypt built in the pyramid shape? Archaeologists have found copper tools and toothless saws near the pyramids. How were they able to cut the limestone to create the giant blocks?  But we still do not know how or why the pyramids of Egypt were built.   Perhaps this is a mystery that we will never know for sure.  The following documentary discuses many of these questions and provides many plausible possibilities.

Through the work of engineer Robert Bauval, we now know that the pyramids have been built to true north and are in alignment with the belt of the Orion star system.

The Early Pyramids of Egypt

The Ancient Egyptians built fabulous temples and tombs and these temples and tombs are located right throughout Egypt. It is considered that the earliest of these pyramids is located at Sakkara.  The Steppe pyramid began as a mustaba and expanded upwards to create a pyramid shape.   Another early attempt is located at Dashur. It was built in the reign of Snefu.  The Bent Pyramid is an example of miscalculation of angles on behalf of the designer.   Also located at Dashur is the Red Pyramid that was also built during th reign of Snefu.  Both these pyamids are still standing today.
