One of the highlights of our Journey of a Lifetime luxury tour of Egypt includes an overnight visit to the beautiful temples at Abu Simbel.  Most tours of Egypt do a very long day trip to see this iconic site and you are forced to share the site with hordes of other tourists and you have limited time to explore this beautiful site.

 

We choose to stay in a gorgeous rustic all suite hotel built from the local stone that is situated right on the shore of Lake Nasser.

Take time out to watch the sunset over the lake from the balcony of your own private villa then take an optional tour to the sound and light show at Abu Simbel which is a very special experience.  Abu Simbel has one of the best sound and light shows of all the sites in Egypt because they tell the story of how these iconic temples were moved in the 1960s to save them from rising flood waters with the building of the Aswan Dam.   They also tell the story of Ramses the Great and his beautiful queen Nefertari for whom Ramses built one of the temples at Abu Simbel.

The following morning, we will be up before sunrise to explore Abu Simbel and to watch the sunrise on this beautiful temple complex and explore the interior of the temples.

We also have an exclusive private visit in the beautiful Temple of the Goddess Isis on the island of Philae in Aswan at sunrise and a late night visit to the Temple of Horus in Edfu.   We visit Hatshepsut Temple and Karnak Temple at sunrise and Luxor Temple in the stillness of the evening.

Cruise the Nile River on a Luxury Privately Owned Dhahabeya –
a Luxury Floating Bed and Breakfast For Your Exclusive Use

You will be cruising the Nile River during our luxury tour of Egypt on a modern dhahabeya that has been built in the traditional style of the sail boats that have sailed the Nile for thousands of years. The Afandina is a privately owned boat that has been built with luxury and comfort in mind and it will be your home for 6 days.

 

There are 3 decks with many places to chill out and relax including a large reception room complete with all the modern technology to keep you entertained including internet access for an additional fee.

Afandina has 8 luxurious double or twin cabins complete with ensuite. Once you have unpacked, your luggage is stowed elsewhere on the dhahabaya giving you room to enjoy your cabin when you want some time out away from the group. Although, you will find many chill out spots on the boat where you can laze back in comfortable couches and feel the Nile River lulling you into a state of total relaxation.  You will hear only the wind in the sails and the waters of the Nile lapping against the hull of the Afandina.
